Embracing the motto "seek balance" and encouraging individuals to embody the essence of "शान्ति" (shaant) - peace in Sanskrit, SHAANT aims to bring harmony and poise into everyday life.

Prem Patel, founder of SHAANT

Prem Patel, a second-generation Indian immigrant, hails from a family that journeyed from Gujarat to Mississippi seeking new opportunities. Growing up in the vibrant cultural tapestry of the Jackson area, Prem's upbringing was shaped by a blend of Indian heritage and American influences.

In 2019, Prem graduated from the Mississippi State University School of Architecture, laying the foundation for his creative journey. The school of architecture is rooted in the BAUHAUS school of art, architecture, and design founded in Germany. Following his graduation, he ventured to Nashville and delved into the world of architecture, honing his skills and passion in the field over the next four years.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Prem found solace in painting during his leisure hours and developed a penchant for collecting graphic tees, particularly drawn to the artistic designs of UNIQLO's UT graphic tees. This admiration sparked a creative spark within him, leading him to merge his artwork with his love for graphic tees, culminating in the inception of his own brand.

Inspired by the innovative designs of Virgil Abloh and influenced by a fusion of Japanese, German, and Indian cultures. Prem's creations reflect a unique blend of diverse inspirations. Drawing from his Indian roots, he finds inspiration in the intricate architecture of BAPS Shikarbadh temples, the pioneering work of the late architect BV Doshi, and the timeless artistry of Raja Ravi Varma.

Through his brand, Prem channels his multicultural background and artistic flair, weaving together a tapestry of influences to create clothing that harmoniously blends tradition and modernity, resonating with individuals who appreciate a fusion of diverse cultural elements in their fashion choices.

SHAANT is attempting to capture the balance between tranquility and chaos in a natural method through cultural movements. The hope being that the next generations can reach a higher level of peace and harmony in everyday life.
